For Convex Tappet covers
All early A series engines had these gaskets made in cork for the rear convex shape tappet chest covers and fitted to Classic Minis until 1966.

The convex side plate was only designed to take these cork type gaskets and the later concave shape cover will only accept the rubber type in its fitting grooves.  The cork type will not fit into the concave tappet chest cover correctly and if you try to do so you may expect leakage from the gasket area.

The rubber type of gasket from years 1966 onwards are available as 12A1175
